THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID (1)

Do you need God’s mercy? I guess everyone require God’s mercy, without which life will become unbearable. It is of the Lord’s mercy that you are not consumed (Lam. 3:22), not of your righteousness. God’s mercies are renewed every morning that’s why you are alive. There is an open invitation to anyone who come to the waters (Isaiah 55:1), the mercy of God is on everyone, but the sure mercies of David is for those who obey the call of God, those who wash themselves in the waters of God’s Word, those who come to Jesus Christ as helpless sinners and daily wash themselves in the pool of the blood of Jesus Christ to remain God’s saints, these are the people God made a covenant of the sure mercies of David with.

The question to ask now is, “What’s ‘the sure mercies of David’?” David was indeed a man after God’s heart. He did great exploits for God in the land of Israel. If God is promising the sure mercies of David, then one need to know what it entails. The implication of this covenant is that, the consequences of sins will not override the promises of God in one’s life. To understand this better, in 2 Samuel 7:14-15, God told David through Prophet Nathan that His mercies will never depart from him and his household. When Saul sinned against God, God did not just take away the kingdom from King Saul, he took his mercies. That’s why God said to David, even if your child (Solomon) sin against Me, I will only chastise him, My Mercy will never depart from him. Let all men support a man and God remove his mercy from such, the man is surely a dead corpse. The Sure Mercies of God means no matter what happen you will excel. It means what kill others will not kill you. It means where others are experiencing failures, you will succeed. It means where people are suffering and likewise wasting their resources; you will get there, prosper and have more than enough.

The Sure Mercies of God is to have rest at all times. David fought wars throughout his reigns but King Solomon fought no single battle throughout his reign in Israel. He had rest all around. The Sure Mercies of God is endless possibilities. The Sure Mercies of David is one voice where you have no say. It fights when one has no strength to fight. It speaks when one has no strength to speak. I therefore decree and declare the Sure Mercies of David will speak for you today and henceforth. What others struggle to do, the Sure Mercies of David will deliver it into your hands very cheaply. May the mercy of God over you and yours today. Amen!
